Architecture - buildings that is

As a contrast & to show my personal take on colours, perhaps this is the moment & place to post the photo of this mosaic in progress (of which my current seagull avatar is a crop).

If not, my apologies.

NB: Unfinished front section, waiting for the sides to be completed before being screwed home, grouted & narrow framing added. I was thinking of the surrounding fields in summer, with buttercups one side and poppies the other.

But it could "be" anything, just an exercise in colour, the way I weave.

That is absolutely beautiful, Stranding! Love the colors you chose for this!! :)

Yes, I know... & I thank you genuinely.
But some of us over here are not very good at handling this stuff...the others will know what I mean. I'm squirming around like a fish on a hook that you might catch on your outing with that blue reel.

Now, dosh coming in this direction sounds a much better idea!!

But as I'm one of those Brits (who are known to be a dodgy job lot & definitely not trustworthy) the thing might never arrive at your end. Then -- jailbroken -- before I've even gotten (get that alien slang!) to the bottom of the iPF bowels. Oh Woe:-(

Think I should scarper before Richard gets back & sees his thread's been taken over by an Artful Dodger:-)

I think I will have to seek out and post some of The East End Dickensian haunts, Stranding :D

Your mosaic is absolutely fantastic. I love the use of colour tiled into the design. :) :)

Many thanks Richard, Hayles & Leelai!
It's rather a big & daunting project to start up & worrying in case it doesn't work:-( It could easily be an expensive mistake...

Richard, did you catch the very interesting programme on Radio 4 about Norman Foster & his work?

(Think it was yesterday, but could have been Tuesday. Sorry can't be more specific-- trying to catch up on 2 days of posts while I've been jaunting:-). Pathetically, didn't catch the title either...)

No, I missed it. Thanks for flagging it up. The iPlayer will be busy again! :)

I'm listening now. "The New Elizabethans" presented by James Naughtie.

Huh, missed that--presume also on Radio 4? We usually have R4 on but for some reason, didn't an hour ago. There's a programme on the increase in parakeets at the moment--do you have them your way? We haven't ever seen any here. Called "The Alien Birds have Landed" or something similar.

R4 Is always entertaining & educational but sometimes I absolutely STARVE for some music:-( Preferably Beethoven or Mozart...(at risk of getting sent to Coventry here. But I love Queen, Dire Straits et al too:-))

Yes, we have loads of Parakeets. The population is increasing in volume both in sound and numbers!

The experts are apparently very worried about the increase in numbers & the fact that they are aggressive & driving out the natives. They are apparently urban dwellers which probably explains why we don't have any here.

They also said that as they become more "common" people will go off them, as we did with sparrows when they were plentiful. Shame on us!!! Love them now:-)

This is a bit of the streetscape in Market Square in Bampton, Oxon, UK, where I live. It's a "Cotswold" village basically but not a "precious" one as some of the very touristy ones are, such as Chipping Camden or Bourton on the Water are.

Bampton is busy with lots going on and has a mixture of very ancient & not so old buildings. The iconic postbox has just been moved here after being in a rather difficult place to stop at for centuries.

And the flag is something that appeared mysteriously in the road overnight before the jubilee. It gets rolled over by hundreds of cars but is still in good nick. Suspects are the folk who each year on April Fool's day put a spoof sign over the one put up by the council-- the "look out for elderly walkers" one. I will find a link for some examples--many have been very funny.
