So do all the villagers here! Hope it last well. Haven't heard that the the police are looking for anyone, so seems OK so far:-)
Below a couple more photos of the Market Square around the road flag.

We managed to grab our nice old telephone box before the powers came to change it for a grotty newfangled one!

This shows two of Bampton's millennium projects: the seat round the tree made from recycled black bin liners & the mosaic made by the villagers of granite tiles. The design was a controversial compromise... A compilation of the village icons:- morris dancing, the old annual horse fair, the "Bampton in the Bush" old name & the old castle.

Can't find any pics of the annual April Fools done to the "elderly" sign but here is a link to another recent AF prank here:

It think the government should enact legislation to protect the old phone box. Our superheroes need a place to change.

Exactly!

May also be smelly, expensive to maintain & impossibly Non-PC for access, but it's There & it's Traditional:-)

They're certainly more aesthetically pleasing that the modern equivalent.

Here are some photos which I took during yesterday's excursion. First of all, views along the Thames from the cables which suspend Hungerford Pedestrian Bridge and the London Eye - to - a bit of fun atop of a South Bank Building - to - the replica Globe Theatre championed by Sam Wannamaker - to - views of Tower Brige seen beyond HMS Belfast.

Then we paused near to the remains of London Wall close to the Tower of London. I took this photo to illustrate London's development over a span of close on 1,800 years. It's not quite the same as Mexico City's Plaza de Tres Culturas :)

The Shard, almost completed is beyond the Tower of London, while the base of a Roman tower occupies the pit in the foreground.

Interesting photos, as always, with a good story behind them. Love the idea of the London's "long history" one--a concept it encapsulates brilliantly!

Glad the weather didn't put you off--it was on/off rain over here.

These photos are intriguing! Why are those bits of London stone framed like that within the Tribune building?

These stones and more from famous buildings around the world are set into the exterior walls of the Tribune Building.
