Available space problem

I have deleted some more applications. But it still says : Available: 0 bytes
:(

Restart the iPad. Long press power button until slider appears, slide to power down. Power back up, check available space.

Thanks again. I have been deleting apps, but it has no effect on "Available" capacity (just stays at 0 bytes). Version is 4.3.5 (8L1)

Surely even if I remove even a small app, it should add /something/ to the available ? I just deleted Office2 HD, and no effect at all. And then there is all the photos and videos I deleted already. I don't understand at all.......
?

I've done that twice now (as per my original post, and again just a few seconds ago). IT still says "Available: 0 bytes"

I've deleted a few more Apps, and also restarted again. Still it shows Available: 0 bytes. Any further advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks !

Something isn't right or something is being miscommunicated.

If you hook it back up to iTunes does iTunes report 0 bytes available?

Can you provide a screen shot? Press the home button and power button together and you will hear the shutter sound. Look in photos and a picture of your iPad screen at the time you pressed the home and power buttons will be there. Attach that photo to your next post here if possible.

Either something is running that is actively consuming disk space or the OS is misreporting the data.

Go to your safari settings and clear history, cookies, and data, then press advanced/website data/remove all website data.

Still no joy we are going to upgrade you to 5.3 of the OS.

Try to get that screen shot posted.

Thx

Double tap the home button.

When you do the background apps task bar will appear with recently used icons listed.

Long tap any icon until it wobbles and exhibits a red minus sign, release

Now tap every red minus sign to remove background programs from RAM.

Tap home button to escape

Restart the iPad by holding power button until slider appears. Push slider power down. Restart....check storage figures.

Thanks For your help. I have done as suggested. After reboot, here is the picture (sorry had to use an actual camera).

Also is a screencap from itunes. Strangely it seems the storage of Apps is getting bigger, not smaller, since a lot of space was used on photos and videos but I deleted most of those, and now that space is taken by Apps :( ipad_sc_01.jpgitunes_sc_01.jpg

Thanks again !

Ok we are getting there...

From iTunes click the apps tab at the top of the screen and change it to list mode, take a screen grab and post.

Please can you tell me how to "change it to list mode" ?

There are four icons to the right of the tabs to change views. Looking for a view that provides app size in the view

Thanks ! Do you mean the 4 icons I have circled in red in the attachment ? They don't do anything when clicked.....itunes_sc_02.jpg
Please advise............

It is clear some existing apps will have to be deleted to open up space. I'm trying to find a way to get a list of apps installed on your iPad with size requirements. Version 5.1 does this but 4.3 does not and you cannot upgrade without the open space to do so.

Sadly, to obtain the storage info for apps on your iPad you will have to pull each one up in the app store where size requirements are displayed along with hardware requirements.

Try to isolate a few of the larger ones and delete them from the iPad. If I were you I would clear at least 3GB of space, then upgrade to version 5.1 of iOS. Once upgraded you can better analyze storage as illustrated in the screen grab from a version 5.1 I install. As you can see app detail is provide and the list by default is sorted in decreasing size order.

Let me know how you want to proceed.

Sorry if I sound stupid, but I don't know what "pull each one up in the app store" means. Is that something I do on the PC or on the ipad ? I don't know what the app store is. And what exactly do I do ? Can you give me an example ? I did delete about 20 apps yesterday, so I don't understand why the space that those ones (and the 100+ photos I deleted) previously occupied is not showing as "available". My wife doesn't understand why, if space was an issue, having deleted 100+ pictures, she can't immediatey use it to take 100 more ? Can you provide some insight ?

How do you "delete" an app?

Long press an icon on your desktop until it wobbles and displays a plus sign then release.

Then tap the plus sign on all apps you want to delete.
