Another thing that bugs me is why GI cannot find a way to sync games across multiple platforms. Zynga does it really well with their Farmville game (yeah I used to be addicted to that as well). I'd love to be able to play the game on my computer and have the progress transfer through to my iPad.

Hi, no I've not got the credits yet, but their apology on the Facebook page promises everyone 50 free credits and some useful items within the next few days. I only lost about a days work tho, not three, but there were quite a few restore options to choose from date wise.

You do need to go through the tutorial before the restore will appear. Good luck to you if you leave the game but I for one hope you don't

This worked for me too. Nothing until I worked through the tutorial. I have also reset my iPAD and I have now got the restore points. I have managed to restore the game right back to the point when I last successfully opened it.

Do you go through the tutorial signed in as your old city/user name? When the reset first happened to me yesterday, it started a new game, and also started the tutorial. I had no idea what was going on at the time, and before I could try to sign in or anything, I had to complete the tutorial, which did. The restore screen was of course not up and running yesterday so I did not get any messages.

It was then that I found out through the forum about what was going on. I put away my game and have yet to load it back up.

I wonder if this will negatively impact me in any way when I try to restore the game.

No when the "new" game starts you cant assign any names and have to follow the mandatory steps (you can't bypass them) as a generic player up until you produce and sell your first batch of flour. Your restore window will appear at this point (today).

Ah! I might be in a soup them, cos I already completed the tutorial yesterday since I had no clue what was going on and just wanted to get to the sign in screen! Oh well ... guess I'll find out this evening if I still get the restore window when I load the game.
 
I keep getting the load attempt screens too. But my game knock on wood is as it should be. No thanksgiving event but everything else is in order so far. Idk whether to close it down or not. But I just took screen shots of everything storage inventory and all. I have real money paid buildings in storage and I will be pissed if they get lost. GI is really starting to get ridiculous!!
 
My restore worked. I waited till I reached home and was on a proper wifi network.
Restore window popped up when I started the game. Scrolled all the way to the right to find 4 useful restore points. Choose the last one. And it worked..... I lost a few hours of progress, but not too bad.
 
Surprise surprise!! Of course I am the 'lucky' one for who the restore does not work. I had gone through the tutorial yesterday when I did not know what was going on. Of course at that time, there was no "restore window" I loaded the game this evening and it put me through the tutorial again. Only this time, it started with the "build a house and collect citizens" step. That is where I am now stuck. In the step where it asks you to collect citizens, I collected them but the damn splash screen does not go away. It doesn't seem to recognize that I have collected the citizen. As a result, the tutorial doesn't move forward and I am stuck in limbo. I tried everything - killing the app, hard reboot of the iPad ... nothing seems to work. I have now submitted a help ticket but who knows how long this will take to be addressed. Very frustrated!

Try to build another house and collect more citizens maybe? Or just wait and collect them from your existing houses once again?
