To follow up on gab's comment, I would prefer the easier or medium items over helping with the heavy lifting like thickener or lipstick if you do not have plans to finish out a ship.

I would do the ore. The big items like thickener, most cannot make but is popular with the ships. You should open up the fast and easy stuff. But to not offer all the same I would do two easy (first row) and two medium (second row).. Also helps the newbies get started and stay interested.

I remember my first ships, where I needed lots of help with the last row of big items. So now as the world turns, yeah I could say put the big stuff up so I have a good demand but I rather use them to help others finish their ships.

But anyhow, do what you think best. I'm just one voice.
