I most heartily agree with this post. These expensive, awesome and beautiful devices must be babied and handled with the utmost of care. If not for the price of the object, but for the respect of its craftsmanship.

That's why you should always have a protective case :)

I as well. I purchased my leather made iPad protector before I even had my iPad. I have the iPad 1. But I am happy with my version.

I am doing the same for my iPhone 4s. I just paid for the phone waiting for the shipping to take place. But, I do have aluminum protective case waiting for it's iPhone.

I felt bad the other when I decided to push in the DVD tray into my computer and somehow made the tray crooked and now the tray does not slide on properly even with the push button.

Yes, breaking an iPad is much worse than a DVD tray not working. But to compare it was a dumb mistake on my part when all that I need to do us simply push the little button and the tray would be in working condition today.

Yes so true Randy, members need somewhere I guess to express how they feel with what has happened to their iPad. We then can guide them on what steps they can take and what is available for them. And the bottom line is that it's not Apple's fault! :)

I don't know why the mods have not closed this tread. Unreal how many people think apple owes them something for nothing.

And annoying :(

I had to pay $HK 1,488 for a new screen for an iPad2 (or to be more precise a replacement). It was annoying to pay so much money for a hairline crack. Far more annoying is having to deal with a "genius". What sort of stupid company calls its technical support people "geniuses". It's one of the most pretentious things I've ever come across. Doesn't anyone else find this rather pathetic?

How did the crack happen to exist?

Comparing against most customer service in Hong Kong, I'd be thrilled to pay deep discount to replace something I broke. That's pretty "genius" right there, lol. That type of service is pretty standout in the world.

I find the genius branding pretentious, but I'm not getting worked up about something that insignificant. I see you've created a thread just about that. I find that entertaining.

Don't buy apple products then. Sounds like you might be better suited to buy a box of Kleenex for your whining. Who cares what they call the techs. Again unless it's a true defect apple does not owe u anything.
