Cheez Whiz was a staple too, but expensive. We'd have one or the other (Velveeta) but never buy both at the same time. At least that's what I remember.
To dress it up my mother would add sweet pickle slices. So it was important to put cheez whiz on both pieces of bread (Wonder) of course, otherwise the juice from the pickles would make the sandwich soggy.
But the real treat of Cheez Whiz was the empty jar. Back in the day the jar was tapered at the bottom, which looked cool. I'd keep the empties to store my marbles.

KayKayKay-I think the cheese did taste like the packs with the crackers and the plastic little stick!! Haven't had any of the above in a long time, but I still see it at the grocery store!!
