What's new

Food anyone?

If you get a chance, try a Jaffa Cake. Or two.
Here is the classic shape & orange flavouring, before any lateralisms or piracies:-)

jaffa cakes - Google Search

But Jaffas & swiss rolls (even if they are yum yum, & I agree, they are:-)) must be classed as cakes, not our take on bikkies this side of the pond.

The closet Americans have come to a Jaffa Cake, at least that I've found, is a Pepperidge Farm Milano, in orange flavor:

Pepperidge Farm® - Milano® Cookies

Do you buy those fresh in a fast food outlet?
Surely they don't come like that, already filled, sealed in that bag??

I had one at a Taco Bell food court kiosk before an NBA game. I think they're just sold at regular Taco Bells. Mine came in some kind of paper wrapping, not a Doritos bag. They're made fresh. Well, what qualifies for fresh in fast food, lol.

I meant to ask: Are Tunnock's tea cakes available year round in the UK?

In the U.S., the equivalent cookies aren't made in the summer, because they melt.

The two American variations that I know of are called Mallomars or Pinwheels, both by Nabisco. The Mallomars are shaped like Tunnock's tea cakes. The Pinwheels are scalloped and fancier shaped.

We had sausages and stir fry for high tea. The sausages were nice, but too spicy for my better half. It looks like I've 16 sausages to enjoy. :).

We were talking about feeding sausages to a dog. This reminded us of the consumer programme from the 80s hosted by Esther Rantzen. A viewer wnt in a video clip of his talking dog. it's vocabulary was "Sausages" and "Elvis". LOL

Richard-- I've only saw the dog video where he says I love you and mama. Molly does growl no, no, no or now, now, now depending on who walked in the building. Oops food thread. Thanks Kay, now I have to make a taco bell run!

Here's an oldish Walls sausages ad that we love & have saved on the TV to play when we want a giggle. The dog is our own Herbie, moonlighting...well, it looks exactly like him!!

ALERT : contains Ghastly Sounds that some might find Unbearable:-):-):-)

Oh, almost forgot--think the TV banned it, but can't remember any details.

Three more Walls ads:

This one is two run together:

NB: In the last one, for the benefit of others who might not recognise the word:

The dog says "Garridge Lady" in his song--

which translates as "Garrarge Lady".

Or even "Service Station Female Operative" perhaps.
But that wouldn't scan of course.

I remember that; the two words sounded exactly the same:-)

"High Tea"???
Do you really have that?
As well as "Lunch"?
And "Afternoon Tea"?
What about "Supper"?

For our "supper" today we are having a chicken & mushroom pie, made by the village butcher who has his own local farm, with new potatoes and (ex-frozen) peas & (ex-frozen) spinach in a white sauce. The choice of veg is dictated because we need to empty our extra fridge-freezer in the "garrrarge" which has broken down & is now warming the food up...:-(

This will be my first meal today, apart from an apple earlier. And I'm hungry!!!

Oh yes, Tunnocks's tea cakes can be found here all year round......

Can't believe I almost choked on a Bavarian filled donut while having coffee this afternoon. Could see my mouth lined with confectioner sugar on the mirror.

Stranding...walls balls....lol. Thank you so much for the belly laughs. I love that first ad with the terrier and the man fighting over the sausages. Thanks again!
