IOS5 Jailbreak Strategy Guide

Sigh. Still there ... laughing at me! It really is a matter of willpower, now. I won't give in and upgrade and he won't go away. Guess it's the immovable object meets the unstoppable force.

Could get ugly...

:D

Have you ladies seen that data collection piece of software that one of the jb teams have developed to find new vulnerabilities?

No, Tazlaa, there is no jailbreak yet. Trust me, the news will be all over the forum (and every where else, most likely) when it breaks.

Please - don't ask again. Thanks.

I have updated the first post with some info on iFaith 1.4 which has been released. The facts are as follows:

iPad1 owners ONLY can use this Windows based tool to extract the SHSH Blobs AND the APTicket for 5.x firmwares provided you have it installed on your iPad1 at the time it is run. Once extracted you can create a custom pre-signed firmware to reinstall that version in the future.

iPad2 owners CANNOT use this tool.

iFaith CANNOT retrieve our blobs and apticket if you are not currently using the version you want to save. So, if you don't have 5.0 installed now you still CANNOT ever downgrade back to it using iFaith.

However, users who are currently using 5.0 on the iPad1 can now extract their 5.0 blobs and apticket and then upgrade to 5.0.1 (or downgrade to a 4.x version), safe in the knowledge that if a 5.0 untethered jailbreak is released in the future they will be able to install it.

iPad1 users on 5.0.1 are also advised to use this tool as 5.1 is currently in beta and you never know what exploits may be patched in 5.1 or found in 5.0.1 in the future, so better to be safe than sorry if you have the option.

Once again, this is of absolutely no use to iPad2 owners! :D

I am 1pad user, and using 5.0.1 ... Is there some hope for un teetered jb

Nope.

As of right now, there is no untethered JB for the iPad1 on iOS 5.x. The last UNtethered jailbreak was 4.3.3. for the iPad1.

Just have patience that the jailbreaking community will develop one...soon. :D

Can this tool be used to prepare "custom" 5.0 firmware from 5.0 blob, saved with TU?
