Isn't the iPad already unlocked when you buy it? Someone told me you can use any GSM micro sim that has a data plan on the 3G iPad. True?

Yes, AFAIK iPad is sold factory unlocked no matter where you purchase from my experience of GSM in the UK. I have a data plan with Orange, but have had my friends O2 SIM in it one day to test for a few seconds.
Verizon is obviously a different kettle of fish, and one which us Europeans don't have to worry about!

Let's put it this way. I have an iPad 1 and an iPad 2 at home, and I find myself reaching out for the iPad 1 a lot more. Sure, the iPad 2 has better hardware, but it's not like most apps support the extra horsepower. The only thing that will possibly utilize the extra juice is things like backgrounder, multiflow etc. In terms of device handling, the experience is almost identical. But one has all the extra little tweaks. So for a month now, I'm wondering if the money I spent was worth it.

i probably would reach for a jailbroken ipad 1 than an ipad 2 without jb too, but since i only have one ipad (2) all I can do is really try to enjoybit to the fullest and hope that a jailbreak is around the corner

I do t know, the first 2 weeks I had my iPad 2, I reached for it more than my iPad 1. The only time I used my iPad 1 was when I would check to see what new packages are in Cydia. I eneded up trading my iPad 1(16gig wifi) for an iPhone 4(16gig)!!!
