September 17 - 1953 - The Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, LA, successfully separated Siamese twins. Carolyn Anne and Catherine Anne Mouton were connected at the waist when born.

September 17 - 1976 - NASA unveiled the space shuttle Enterprise in Palmdale, CA.

An interesting assortment of characters were on hand for the roll-out.

The biggest disappointment was that the Enterprise was never intended to go to space, being used for atmospheric flight testing instead.

September 23, 1962 - "The Jetsons" premiered on ABC-TV. It was the first program on the network to be carried in color.

October 8th, 1871 the Chicago fire starts. It started in the barn of Patrick and Catherine O'Leary, starting a two day blaze that killed 200-300 people, destroyed 17,450 buildings and cost about $200,000,000 in1871 dollars.
