I'm not sure I like the split keyboard. But I might end up loving it. It's weird at first to try to use it though!

You can use the regular keyboard - just hold down the keyboard button and select "Dock and Merge" I don't think I like the split keyboard - for one reason it makes the keys too small and I don't use classic touch typing anyway.

I'm not sure it's for touch typing.

I think the main idea is if you're holding the iPad in both hands, the split keyboards are located where your thumbs would fall on the screen.

Try using it like that.

Is he a "Matipoo" or a "Maltipoo" (your signature)?

Hmm, that is a good idea, but they are too small when split. I can use thumbs with the regular keyboard. I can see how it may be useful for someone who can't reach far with their thumbs.

When I'm in landscape, I prop it up on the smartcover and type sort of like a regular keyboard. Otherwise if I'm in bed I type with my index fingers or something. It's a clever idea, the split keyboard, bu I'm not sure I could get used to it! Still trying it out though.

I had to bump the thread, at 6am, with this. (I'm up feeding my cat, going back to bed in a minute!)

My brother has always been a very vocal Apple hater. He has always criticized Steve Jobs for always "creating the same phone year after year" and Apple's "exclusivity" with things like FaceTime, etc, and the lack of "customization" in the iPhone. We had many Android vs. iOS debates over the summer. We both had Android phones; I only did because the iPhone wasn't on Verizon in September of 2010 when I got my last one.

His contract has been up for about a month and he has been researching literally every day about "which phone is the best". I think you know where I'm going with this.

Today he's going to Verizon and getting a 4S!

I want to say I told you so so badly, but I settled with congratulating him on seeing the light.

(He also mocked my mom's iPhone 4 and how "stupid" it was since February when she got it, and majorly mocked me for getting an iPad in August.... the last couple of weeks all he has been doing is asking me about it. *Shakes head*)

Ha! Great story! Again, I've never run into anyone that put down Apple products that had actually used any. They think they know...but they don't. Plus I've never run into anyone that switched to Apple and went back. I'm sure they're out there somewhere...but...

Pretty soon it'll be a Macbook, then an iMac, then...

"Why is there no app drawer? The screen looks cluttered and ugly."
"Why is Apple so exclusive with their products? Nice going, Steve."
"Why can't you get to the battery? Because if something goes wrong they want you to buy a new phone or pay to get it fixed." (As has been said, Apple stuff rarely breaks so who cares if you can't pull the battery?)
"The iPhone hasn't changed since 2007." (He basically means design wise I guess.)

Etc. etc.!

Same thing with my wife 6 months after I got my iPad.

Said she didn't want one, then her birthday and Christmas came and went and she said she thought she'd get one then, but was disappointed when she didn't.

Then she got an Android tablet and returned it 3 hours later. That's when we got her an iPad of her own.
