never ending constant rain, cant wait for it to stop, many flooding around the country too. :(

I know Good karma, I used to live there, my sister still does. The weather there reminds me of a sci-fi book I once read, not sure of the author, but it was about a planet where there was never any place that it didn't rain, 24/7. I'm sure scifan will chime in with the authors name. Lol
Stiff upper lip and all that stuff. In modern terms "Don't worry...be happy". Just think if it was falling as snow!

It's called All Summer in a day, by Ray Bradbury. It's a short story that takes place on Venus, where it rained every day of the year, with the sun only shining for one hour, every seven years. It was made into a TV movie of the same name.

Yup! We used to have the full Xmas roast in South Africa too. And yes, the obligatory swim in the pool afterwards. Mind you, the water was so hot, it wasn't refreshing at all.

Same here with the pool water Hayles.

We make as much ice as possible and throw it in the pool....it's very nice having the little flashes of cold for a while! ;)

Oh really Admiral! ...I was only 6 when I read it, that's why I couldn't remember the title. ;)

Thanks scifan, I knew you would be able to name the book. It was one depressing story as I recall.

That's another reason why we enjoyed our Boxing Day dip in the Atlantic rollers when we lived in Trinidad. :)

Sales of souvenirs with variations of the expression "Keep calm .... and carry on" have been booming over the past year or so. ;)
