Yesterday in my neck of the woods it was 44c (110f). Today 31c (88f) is on the menu. I have 2,000 feet left to till and plant pinto beans.

I am happy for the respite.

Very dreary here today and quite cool! Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia

Enjoying the whales and sail boats going past though.

Thanks for the photos! Some day I will surf that beach.

We had rain all afternoon, with clearing skies in the evening. I was out walking just now and saw something quite unusual, a red sky in the east, at sunset.

Really......it was only the surfers who have been braving the cool conditions here.

We have some great beaches further south where everyone surfs also. Burleigh, Kirra and Snapper Rocks!

Hope your wish comes true!

I've seen something like this quite a few times here. It's not as vividly coloured as the sunset in the west. That's why I never took a picture.

Our weather is being typically British!

Yesterday afternoon was supposed to be very warm 18°C and sunny. We ended up putting on cardigans and sheltered from the wind, while it remained overcast.

This morning is still cool and overcast. The wind veered to an Easterly yesterday and seems to remain from the East - a Scandinavian wind, rather than a Siberian one. ;)

We had sunshine most of the day, and the temperature went up to 30° C. We're having 25° C right now, and the sky looks like this:

A few raindrops were falling, and I think I heard thunder.

I've been up since 4 this morning. We had a very large thunder and lightning storm pass through at the front of overcast weather. The lightning was striking right next to the house. The thunder clap was almost immediately following. Of course the dogs were terrified and wouldn't let me go back to sleep. Later, there were news reports for fires started by lightning strikes. :-(

Oh my Fid......your dogs must have been terrified by it all! My dog just can't keep still when we have them here.

Sounds like you were very lucky your house didn't get hit also.

Mother Nature has certainly been flexing her might of late.....I hope there was minimal damage left by it all!

That's a storm! Gave you finished planting your beans?

Yes Leelai, they were horrified. I stayed up with them so they could have a companion. There were many fires started by the lightning strikes. None were close by. They are under control by now. When something like that comes through the emergency services gear up right away.

We got the beans all planted. Six rows four hundred feet long. There was enough time left over so we tilled four one-hundred feet rows and planted corn.
It is a week late on the corn. It won't be "knee high by the fourth or July."

I hear that. I grew up in a rural area. The progress of the corn and tobacco crop was an accurate way to measure the health of the growing season.
