We have as good as no clouds today, and the sun's burning down, temperature's 32° C right now, still rising.

Today's expected to be the peak of this week's heatwave with temperatures up to 38° C. Unusual at this time of the year. We normally reach these temperatures in July or August.

13°C and overcast this morning, after a night of thunderstorms and high winds. While walking home after work, I saw this, the result of the high winds last night. image-3000696966.webp

Today is the longest day. I'm sure the overcast conditions will mask the extra minutes of daylight! :(

A brindle fox was trotting along the opposite footpath. I tried to capture him "on film" but in my haste I clumsily put a thumb in front of the camera lens :(
After I took the photos, I went to place the rubbish bins at the entrance to our drive. The sound of an approaching car made me look right. Young foxy was standing on the footpath by our wall watching the cars, ready to cross the road when it was safe to do so. He was working his way along the houses searching for food in unsecured rubbish bags and bins.

We will see every minute of it. Not a single cloud in the sky, 24° C at 7:00 am. They've promised us it won't be as hot as yesterday, "only" 33° C.

The students are exhausted because of the heat in the classrooms. :-(

Noon: 32° C

This looks like my place in November. (The weather, not the parking area.)

I woke up to a thunderstorm. I guess it's time for rain again, but we'll not see the sun much. Summer is definitely here - temps will be in the 80s f for a while and occasional thunderstorms are forecast.

A large and intense weather system is causing extensive flooding in the western Canadian province of Alberta. The southern region of the province is seeing the most dramatic impact.

Below is a link to regional news coverage. The latest weather update indicates the affected area could receive as much as an additional 100 mm of rain.

Up to 100,000 people in Calgary have been told to evacuate their homes as the Bow River overflows it's banks. Here's the news from Calgary. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/story/2013/06/21/calgary-flood-closures-list.html

This looks and sounds terrible!
I do hope that there will be no casualties.

The news of the Alberta floods is sombre reading. As the news reports advise, there are 2 rivers in the Calgary area, this is bound to extend the flood period and flood risk.

I for one will be following the news.

I just learned of this while catching up here. I looked it up, terrible news and at least 3 people have died. Here is a link to a news page with video
