What I see in my backyard...

We have different varieties of dragonflies in Michigan, though haven't seen a lot of the "lighter" versions lately. Don't know where they all are...they are just stunning, greenish-blue hues to them. Just too cool!

Hey now...I think the Canadian Squirrels have one up on the Michigan Squirrels!

We'll have to have a competition between the Michigan and Canadian squirrels. We can call it the Acorn Bowl.

They have for sure. Many Canadian squirrels are larger.

But then Michigan makes cars that squirrels love to drive!

We haven't seen squirrels for a few days.

However, our blackbird was measuring up a shrub which we had moved from a container to this flower bed. You could see him surveying the shrub before he flew up into it and spent some time moving around the branches etc.

It took him about 3 weeks and many falls to find the branch that was strong enough to allow him to get close enough jump in.



This is my new bird feeding area.

They will figure out anything Czevski. Try this: take a plastic cap off an aerosol can and poke a couple of holes in the side to attach some string. Hang the cap from a tree branch by the string and put some peanuts (in the shell) in the cap. I guarantee you that it will not take long for a squirrel to come along, hang by it's back legs, hoist the cap up by the string and grab a peanut. I would post a picture of this but moved to a new house which has no mature trees. 8)

That sounds interesting! I have a few mature trees to do this from also-I may have to try that!

@ czevski and JA--lovely pics of the secret squirrel and the dragonfly! It's so fun to watch those squirrels in action too! I bet you got a lot of fun watching him try to make jump everyday!!

It's a lot of fun ski, when they get one they will just drop the cap which may bounce some nuts out when the string bottoms out. My brother in law told me it took his Newmarket squirrels 3 days to figure it out. When I hung a cap, the Georgetown squirrels had it down pat within ½ hour. I don't know about Niagara-on-the-Lake squirrels yet.

That's great, Roy!! I haven't set one up here yet--but will definitely be one to do! I think my squirrels will get the hang of it fast!
