What I see in my backyard...

The bird feeder swinging.

About a week ago, we cleaned off the cobwebs, filled it with some corn and granola cereal which I crushed, and hung it from a tree.

At last the birds are starting to use it! Yippee. :)

This is my first year in decades that I don't have a bird feeder. I always had one sitting on a 4x4 complete with plexiglass ½ way up well greased with Vaseline to keep the squirrels off. Trouble was some seed gets tossed out by Grackles looking for their favorite snack and a family of skunks decided to tear up the grass in search of it. So a circle 12' in diameter of destroyed lawn was my reward for being kind to birds. :(

OK, we have spruced up another seating area in the back garden. We put it to good use yesterday.

The robin hops about on the deck within 6 feet of us then goes to the feeder close by. A couple of sparrows started using the feeder while we were sitting out. They are too quick for me to snap them.

That's a nice improvement, Richard. Painting the trim a different color and adding the wicker chairs make it look much more inviting and colorful.

Thanks Scifan. I have to sort out a little bit of wood rot in the balusters to the summer house. It's very localised, and I may do a resin repair for now. Then in a year or two replace the defective timbers if necessary.

I think we have 4 robins doing the rounds with the feeders! That is most unusual as they defend their territories forcefully.

That's great! I've never seen robins up close.
