What's new

What I see in my backyard...

That looks really great Richard, you put a lot of work into it. Do you have plans to put something on that circular paving, like a statue of Venus de Milo or a birdbath?:)

Yes something is going there. I should open a guess what thread, but perhaps not :)

Ski and the Admiral. We're getting quite close. All will be seen in 8 days time.

Mind you, I did think of inviting Bruce Jenner over to try put his helicopter. ;)

Looks sturdy enough. I'll give it a try on the next orbit. :D

I say careful with the test landing first, make sure you have some immediate back up to disengage if necessary AA! :)

Ah hah.. All I can say is "Watch this space." ;) ;)

I'm really looking forward to seeing what will appear on that beautifully paved circle you have there. Perhaps a life-size Marble cut statue of your iPad, Richard? ;)

OK, I'm ready to show what I was talking about.... Photos in a tick ;). After my Friday post under the Weather thread :)

Well, the landing went very well. It was smooth, and we now have .....

Our garden seating pod. I call it the garden escape pod. It was a nice touch down, AA.

But did you have to leave the mother ship on such close orbit :D

Oh that garden pod is just great, beautiful in fact. Excellent pictures about its construction. The suspense is over:)

Thanks the OB. We found it gets hot in there in sunny weather. However, I'm sure we will sort that out by rotating it so that we benefit from cooling breezes. It's comfy.

If we were looking at having a conservatory built, the largest version of the pod would be a strong contender, and competitively priced. :)

I note the pods are popular in California. I'm not sure about Australia.

That's very nice, Richard. Is the wood pre-finished? I've never even heard of a seating pod before.

Thanks Scifan. The wood is pressure treated with preservative. The ribs are "Glulam". We can leave the wood to weather naturally, or after a year treat it with a regular decking or fencing stain. We are tempted to allow everything to weather naturally.

We first saw an example on the Chelsea Garden Show TV programmes a couple of years ago.

In Oz there might be, but I have never heard of one. Because of our much warmer Mediterranean style climate they might be too hot for a large part of the year. Maybe in Tasmania?

Google Garden Seating Pods and take a peek at the images. There is one posted on Flickr by Joey, of an open seat gazebo style which would suit Oz very nicely. ;)

Gosh Richard.....just love your pod! I would love one of those but it would be a sauna here.

I'm going to go searching!
