Is the column of the "Ionic" style?
If so the capital (the top) is of the scroll or "volute" shape. The article I referenced for my answer associates this type of construction academic buildings.

Is it part of your old grade school which you posted pictures of earlier ?

Sorry, Admiral, it's not the Ionic style. Here's a photo of an ionic column.
The column in the challenge is part of a local church in my neighborhood.
