What's new

What music are you listening to right now!?!?

Berlioz: Requiem, Shaw/Atlanta on Telarc LP; the Lachrymosa is just ending now. Adding that second subwoofer sure was a good idea.

Who would have thought Abba would become a "classic" group? It was slightly embarrassing in the '70s to admit to liking them. Me? I loved them, always did and still do. I'll have to dig some out.

Presently listening to Annie Lennox - A Whiter Shade of Pale

You aren't the only one, Kevin. ;). We went to see Mama Mia in the West End. It was our show of choice, courtesy of Marks & Spencer. My wife had worked 25 years for the store.

Hey, Lanny. A question for you. How do you rate Telarc recordings?

The performances and engineering are top-notch, and sonically the Redbook CD releases tend to be very good. However, the original Soundstream-digital LPs are AWESOME, 99% of as good as it gets, if your equipment is up to the challenge. I have a few recordings in both formats, and it isn't subtle--the LP blows the CD away in terms of a sense of being in the hall with a live orchestra. I wish I had more of them!

Thanks for that, Lanny. I heard good things about them, and I noticed you had mentioned one or two so I thought it worth asking.

Susan Calloway announced today that she's returning to the studio to work on new material.
Her compositions soar in my books. You may know her work on 'Final Fantasy'.

'Chasin The Sun' is one of my favourite tracks.

There is a documentary tonight on BBC2 called "David Bowie - Five Years". I love his music and I'm really looking forward to it.

They said on the news here that Bowie has been paying tribute to him. I think that the five years covered by the doc (judging by the trailer) fits into that period.

The Archangel

You would think. Can't have a documentary about Bowie without covering the 'Spiders From Mars' years. Which means viewers should be treated to some Mick Ronson moments too.
