Where in the World

Simple question. Which place is shown in the picture? Which event led to this? What significant thing happened then?

I probably don't have to give any hint...... I have already told it all. Not here though...

It's the airport at Gander, Newfoundland after aircraft were grounded on September 11, 2001. These aircraft were diverted here when they couldn't proceed to their U.S. Destinations.

This was brought about in the aftermath of the attacks on several buildings by hijacked aircraft.

Challenge over to you. Too easy, right? ;)

To be more specific, only the planes that were destined to land at NYC or Washington were diverted here.

I'm at work right now and won't be able to monitor a challenge. The next challenge is open to the first member who chooses to post a challenge.

Okay here goes then. What is this building called? Where is it located. Also, state any one award that it has won. <img src="http://www.ipadforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=54408"/>

Since I will not be able to monitor it further, I will tell the answer.

This is the Biblioteca España or the Spain Library in the Santo Santo Domingo neighborhood of Meddelin, Columbia, USA. It has won the Best Architecture of the year in 2008. Spain had helped in its construction, thus the name Spain Library.

The next challenge is now opened to anyone who wishes to post it.

These are the Towers of Paine, a part of Cordillera Del Paine in the Torres Del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia.
