I gave you a small hint there.

This is the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen, Germany. Near the end of WW II, Hitler had ordered to destroy all bridges across the Rhine. When the US troops arrived, the bridge was still intact - to their astonishment, making it possible for them to cross the river. The bridge opened the way for the Allied troops to get to the "heart" of Germany.

Thats correct to every detail.

10 days after the capture of the bridge, on 17 March, 1945, the bridge suddenly collapsed into the Rhine. 18 U.S. Army engineers were killed and 93 others were injured, while working to strengthen the bridge. By then, the U.S. Army had established themselves on the other side and had additional pontoon bridges in place. The remaining towers of the bridge is now a museum dedicated to military history.

It's been marked as endangered since 1992, just one year after establishing as UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It's in Edinburgh, Scotland. The formation is called Salisbury Crags, located in the middle of Holyrood Park.

If I'm right, please open the challenge to everyone.
