Where in the World?

Sorry,Admiral it's not Valdez.think "Trail of --"It was a real booming town while it lasted. The economy today is largely based on tourism.

I'm so lost. I wish I could find that picture.
I've found something like it in Skagway Alaska.
The vantage point appears to be from the Skyline Trail on AB Mountain. But the elevation is wrong.
5,099 not 4,000.

Upon further research,I've discovered that the elevation of the photo I took was 3,097',not 4,000'.You are right about the location. The town is Skagway,Alaska. The photo was taken from a rise near upper Dewey lake,at the head of the Dewey lakes trail. The ship tied up to the dock is HMCS Yukon, the ship I was serving in at the time.
The view from the skyline trail on AB mountain is similar, but from the opposite side of town.

It's the National War Memorial in Ottawa,Ontario,Canada. It was designed by Vernon March, who won the design competition that was held in 1925.The Memorial was dedicated on May 21st,1939 by King George VI.While originally intended to honor the dead of World War I,it was re-dedicated in 1982 to also honor those who died in World War II and Korea. The tomb of the Unknown soldier was added in 2000.
The building in the left background is the east block, officially known as the Eastern Departmental Building building,on parliament hill.It was completed in 1866.

It's Seattle.
You were in Puget Sound.
The stricture is the Space Needle, built in 1962 for the World's Fair

I'm out for 2 hours. So if correct, throw the challenge open to anyone.

Correct,Richard. The challenge is open to anyone.Under the new rules, until further notice, you may only use photos you took yourself.
