Hi there, I'm close to completing the Commerical Port task. I've been sitting waiting for 30 steel detail from the dounut cafés, I've been stuck here for 3 days, did it take others a long time to compete?

yes all these take forever. abt as long as it took to get the suitcases on the hydro plant. abt a month.

I'm very tempted to buy one of the buildings that are currently on sale; the bakery, the waffle cafe or the sombrero restaurant. My question is are they worth it and if so which one is the most useful?
And is it true that they only produce 2 or 3 different items?

go for the bakery you need apple pies to hand out to ppl but I also like the mexican rest cuz tortillas are profitable also. So if you already did the river bridge you might want that one. THEre is a site that list the info abt each building but cant post here for the rules but if you type in the BB name and then like hydro plant goals in a search engine you should find a w!k! site that helps out!

Not true, I collected 10 avocados and made 10 cheesecakes and It won't use my item.....

It is because GI keep changing the rules, a lot of items that could be prepared before can no longer be done. Eventually I believe nothing can be prepared early.
I am building this on the iPhone and you could not even per-place the trees before placing the tower :-( Only doing this to gain info I missed for the other site

Is anyone receiving random items in their storage? A couple of days ago I got 15% off a new building, and today I've just got a garland which was not there before, for a free building upgrade. This is obviously good, but how did I get it?

Also, I'm trying to complete the event to get the free building for the extra happinesss. I have no chance of getting the candies, so will have to spend 30 credits. Is it worth spending 30 credits to get this, or should I save them for something else? I have only got 39 credits, and it takes a while to get these as i never pay for them.

Unfortunately, this is something only you can decide on. However, given that you don't buy credits, here are a few things you might want to consider in making your decision:

Do you have a sufficiently high happiness level that will allow you to add more buildings? If not, are you able to easily add coin items like skate parks, ball parks, cafes etc... to increase those levels? For this you will need a healthy coin buffer. If you are struggling in the happiness level component, biting the bullet and buying the candies to get the building might be a good idea. The building does give a pretty good happiness increase.

If I were in your shoes and had a decent happiness level, I would pass on using up my cc and would focus on coin buildings until I could get enough factories to be able to compete in such events. They do come by fairly often so you can always shoot for the next building event.

These events do tend to need candies or chocolate so investing in upgraded farms and confectionery plants is a must for the future

I've decided I'm going to leave the event this time, and keep my credits. I will look to increase my farms etc so I can make more chocolate and candies in future events. Thanks for the advice guys.

You can only get 2 of the new buildings. The challenge goes away after getting the second building.
