LEGO Harry Potter game

Forgive me if this had been answered already.

I just finished the game--found everything,bought everything. I started a free play level and noticed that there are two blank spots in the available characters. I went back to the store to see if I missed buying them, but there are no other characters to buy.

Does anyone know who the last two characters are and how I can get them? Thanks!

Oh, I just figured it out! those are the places for custom characters. Please ignore my question

Hi, I'm not sure whether you mean you can't find where to buy things or you simply cannot buy something.

When you first load the game you are in the Room of Requirements, the shop is on the left of the ground floor. As you approach the two characters the screen will change to a window pane.

Starting from the top left and going clockwise you can buy; characters, watch in game video, get hints, or buy red bricks. To buy a Red Brick for example, click the red brick in the bottom left window pane. Use the extreme left or right square to browse through the available bricks. Select one with a price below it and click the icon in the bottom right hand corner of the iPad screen. Buying hints or characters use a similar method. The video's are free.

It took me a while to find the icon in the bottom right corner. I don't have anything to buy at the moment so I can't describe what the icon looks like, but I think it is just a fancy down arrow.

The levels are meant to be played twice. Firstly in story mode with the basic characters. Secondly in Free Play mode where you can use any character you have bought. This is usually physically stronger characters such as Hagrid, or Dark Magic wizards such as Snape.

It's appears to be a feature of all Lego games, well the ones I've played so far.

Hi, Dave. Can you tell me how to get INTO Free Play mode after I've completed an episode in Story mode? My game just sends me back to the Room of Requirement after I've chosen a Character instead of starting the episode in Free Play mode.

Chamber of Secrets episode

Hi everyone,
I have finished the story line and am now going through the free play mode.
In the chamber of secrets, when you have gone past the second corridor of the dungeons, there is a door that's opened by a teacher. In there there is a time turner, that allows you to get to the golden hat.
My problem is, once i get the hat, I don't seem to be able to jump back over the water! It just doesn't let me do it!
Can someone help me, please?!!

Hi Kermione,

All the Lego games I've played are a bit "buggy". If I have an unexpected problem I close everything, making sure to close any Safari windows, then restart.

So unless there's a problem with your program, you just go back to a story you've completed. Click "Free Play", select a character and click the arrow on the right.
Are you clicking the arrow on the left?

Hi Sash,

I wondered if you'd missed something you needed to collect. So I went in and I've just completed that part of the story in free play without collecting anything and it works for me. So you're not missing anything.

I selected Hermione and activated the time turner. Used the stone in the middle of the water to get the hat. After that I went to the edge of the ledge. There' a glowing grate under water which you can open using a spell. Hey presto (sorry!) the waters gone.

Hooray! I made it into Free Play. Now, I've encountered a stumbling block similar to the one that has me stuck in the Forbidden Forest. Maybe it's just another Lego game thing? Anyhow, I get to an object with a blue circle, place my character on it, and another object drops down for a second or two. I assume I'm supposed to "use" the second object to unlock the first (in this case, the first is a trunk, and I cannot identify the second), but cannot figure out how to do so. Tapping, zapping, dragging -- nothing budges the thing.
Can you help again, please, Dave?

Hi cametodance! Here is what I found out about how to kill Basilisk.
Use the strength potion to pull the chain to the left. With Fawkes the Phoenix released, he’ll fly in to drop a hat on top of the statue and pluck out the Basilisk’s eyes to blind him. Next you must shoot the Basilisk once or twice, and bring both of your characters up to the pipe in the upper left and pull the chains at the same time. Jump in the pipe, hop up the ledge from the top right, use the purple spell on the Sorting Hat and Godric Gryffindor’s Sword will come out. Fire a spell at the snakes eyes to make him appear up the top by statue, then connect the chains on the pipe at top left, and jump in to appear up by the statue. Then move the sword to the blue spot to stab the Basilisk."

That happened to me too. You don't learn alohmora until the 4th yr and you can't use it until then. You can go back in free play later and use it.

As for Scabbars, are you in the shreaking shack? If so, you need to keep attacking the things he runs under. Keep at it and you will finally get him.

I'm stuck there too. I can't get the rocket thing off the roof... And there's no where to go! Any tips?

Biggest tip there are a lot of things you can see but not do until you complete the entire 4 years in story mode... Don't bother with free play u til you've gotten all the way to the end of year 4... Then go back to free mode and those things will be doable and reachable.

Hi, BrennB. I have read quite a few of your helpful posts in my effort to get thru Episode 1. I originally wanted to complete it in Story mode, but en I got hopelessly lost in the Forbidden Forest, I wanted to do Free Play just in order to keep playing. I have stopped counting the number of times I've attempted to get thru the Forest level, only to receive the message, "I think we made a wrong turn. Maybe we should follow the red mushrooms?". I have yet to see a red mushroom in this level, and I've been thru the DS version (text and video), in which my problem is not addressed.
In your wisdom, have you any idea what I'm missing here?

Thanks Dave! I've realised i have been destroying the grate without the water! Silly me!!

Also, another question, in the third year at Hogwarts express, where is the second card hidden? I found the one in the prefects carriage, but seen no other! =(
