The official closing just took place and the gavel has changed hands. Next year the convention is in San Antonio, Texas. It will be called Lone Star Con 3.

Yes, it will be the second Worldcon in San Antonio and the third in Texas. The first Worldcon in Texas was in Austin in 1985. The previous Worldcon in San Antonio was in 1997.

A group forms a bid committee and hosts bid parties and sells pre-supporting memberships in the years leading up to the site selection vote. During the site selection voting, the members of the current Worldcon vote on which of the bids on the ballot they feel should be the host of the next Worldcon.

This was the bid table for London in 2014, which ended up winning the site selection voting to host the 2014 Worldcon.
