What's new

What I see in my backyard...

No joke, I did that last weekend when they weren't home! I feel so bad, but hey...they need to get out and do their part to! ;)

I don't blame you at all.

I would probably never rake anything on my own, but if it affected my neighbors, I'd do it just because I wouldn't want to be THAT neighbor.

One of the first houses we owned had a beautiful front yard that turned out to be much more work than we realized. If it were up to us, we would've let things go, but we didn't want to be the jerks who made the neighborhood look bad. We liked that house a lot, but the next place we bought, we made sure there was way less yard work, lol.

I am the same way in thinking that...wouldn't be known as ..."oh, THAT neighbor!.."

One thing about having a very nice front yard landscaping is that it looks so beautiful but it is sooo much work. I have really cut back as to what I plant on a regular basis. Even with planting perennials which come up every year, there is still weeding and upkeep with it all. We used to have 3 trees in our front. My hubby always says it would be nice to plant some new ones and I keep saying. "NO!!" :)

Lets hope that you two don't ever move next door to each other!

LOL, I think Kay and I would be great neighbors, because we would always worry about not being "That neighbor!" :)

Yes, but I just imagine you having a never ending leaf blower war!

I'm the best possible neighbour, because I'm never at home.

I have a wife for that. ;)

You have a very nice wife! That's a lot of work, hopefully you have things down to maintenance free as possible. We do get a bit wiser as we begin to garden, so I am sure she has a few tricks to save on time for herself!

She loves gardening, and is very good at it.

I just do the work on dead stuff, like rocks and wood, because if I touch anything living, it soon isn't living any more. The gardening gene skipped a generation in my case. Of course right now the garden is under a foot of snow.

Skimonkey and I wouldn't have to war, because we'd be good neighbors to each other -- take care of our own yards.

I prefer neighbors who are home a lot, take care of their homes, don't make disturbances and help watch the neighborhood.

I spend little time at my vacation home, though, so by your standard I'm a great neighbor, lol. I just hire out the landscaping since I don't have a wife to do it, lol.

There is a family in the next block from me that doesn't let a little thing like snow in the garden stop them. They make snow sculptures in their snow covered garden.

Those are my sorts of neighbours, Scifan. :). Please post pictures when they produce the next snow sculptures ;)

It's usually well into winter when they appear, but if they appear this winter I'll post some pictures.

I bought some molds from Lee Valley Tools a few years ago. You fill them with water, colored if you like, and turn them out 24 hours later. The result is a star shaped hollow block of ice with a hole in the bottom for feeding lights through. I had a couple dozen of them going at one point.
