My mum's mincer was aluminium cased. The different "sieve" heads were held in place with a butterfly nut on the end of a threaded spindle / centre for the discs.

Thank you Richard....'Mincer' was the word I was used to. My mother also had one in Glasgow but I bought this one in Canada about 30 years ago.

It's only connection to the iPad mini was being photographed by one. It's made of a carbon fibre composite.
