Three inches of snow yesterday in Virginia...you'd think the place was shutting down. Unlike NY and other states in that way.

Not aware of any weather related casualties here, unless by car accident.

Once it's in your warehouse, you can see how many population it requires to build. There's no other way to tell in advance, unless someone who hasn't built it yet tells you, or they happen to remember from when they checked.

I was surprised even the ice sculpture park has population attached to it. They seem to count people no matter where they are so one person can actually be counted 3 times, once at home, once at work and once walking through the park.....whatever are they thinking. I actually told them so but all I got back was the same scripted message about the mayor blah, blah.... GI does a lot of copy and paste with their responses. I don't think any of them can actually type a coherent sentence, they only use sentences from their inventory of responses.

Can the new ice building (quest reward) be placed even if your population is over the limit? I will complete the quest but need to know if I have to start deleting buildings in order to place it.

I can't answer for the new building but the ice castle and the skating rink each need populations of 8 so maybe the new one is similar.
Weather in north west England hasn't yet been anything like as bad as the forecasts. Quite decent here but reportedly much worse in the south.

Look at the ice hotel in your warehouse and tellus how many population are required.

This will also tell you how many you need to recover (by selling built buildings) to be able to build the ice hotel. Thanks to GI...

I also used a spy glass and got the items to finish my ice rink but will wait to complete it so I can get another freezer. Getting gifts to Eurasia has been really hard, tons for Africa, some for North America and the rest about even. Also not finding very many old lanterns on neighbours cities and when I do, I get star dust from my city about 1/10 tries.

I didn't read this in time and returned an old lantern to you, send me what you need and I will return it next time.

Out of boredom, and because I had some maps, I decided to try some flights to Excavations Ancient Rome with the green jet. This ultimately contributes to the Roman Holiday mini quest.
I have landed 20 jets and absolutely nothing has dropped from any if them. It looks like secondary maps should drop and I guess they are then used for more flights to the destinations which might drop stuff to contribute in a tiny way to achieving the Roman Holiday quest.
Has anyone had any success with this quest?
I don't think that I have the enthusiasm or stamina to continue with this when the task is so difficult, especially when you have to buy the maps to make the initial flights and these are only available from the spaceship (you ultimately need to complete the Roman Holiday quest six times to get a Colosseum and that looks virtually impossible).
I expect that this is a clumsy GI means to get us to spend money/greenies as contributory collections can be bought if we are daft enough to do so.
The only positive, is that the 20 flights gave me an extra gold star...but even that is of no real use.

I am buying all the 20 maps each time duke is in town. I do have about 4 or five maps so far to the roman destinations. With a golden dice an a load of fuel additives to accelerate the things, one is usually able to get all 6 stuff with one map.

I'm encouraged by your progress. I have bought some more maps from Duke and I'll try again whilst there's nothing else to divert my attention.

I have am slowly doing the flights to Rome and Mesoamerica. I have done 6 Rome and a Mesoamerica flight with no drop.

I find that the excavation flights drop a map about every 10 flights. Unless you are willing to use Golden Dice, in which case you get more like 3 out of 10 flights.

All the excavation flights do is give a terrible drop rate for a single random map to one of those five destinations. So basically, it's just a way to get destination maps without spending greenies on a full map set (12 greenies for three random maps).

As Nutty points out, you also get a shot at 15 more stars (3 stars for each of five excavation flight destinations), but since my 240 stars are entirely useless in the game, who cares?!
