It is free, but you can donate if you like. I always donate a few bucks when a jailbreak comes out. They need to be rewarded you know. :)

Im not talking whether it is free or not, just telling you that no one in this world gets the job done without any reason or reward so the question arise is why such hackers do ?
Whether it is an apple's idea to move ahed & always be in news or whatever i don't understand just asking why ?

They do it because is it a major challenge I guess. I would do it too if I had the knowledge.
But I guess they also have in mind that people will donate once it is released. ;)

Yea and btw pod2g got himself an iphone 4s with the donation money..so its more of an obligation now :P

@planetbeing posted this about 30 minutes ago "usbmuxd maintainer and libimobiledevice contributor @pimskeks is who is primarily writing the actual jailbreak app, which is not done yet." So there are still a few things they need to finish up before they can release it.

Last time, when comex jailbroke ipad2 4.3.3, he got $200K in donation. The jailbreak version before that earned him $150K. He revealed these info in an interview right before he got a job with Apple.

Given the fact that there were more than 2 million people visit the site in the first week, $200K is such an abysmal amount. I would like to see the team getting $1/visit this time around , with hope of getting the team $2 million.

How they got paid every-time by just visiting their sites ?

No, they got money via donation not by people visiting the site.

What I am saying is that I wish, on average, each jail-breaker would donate $1 to the team. Since most people in the far east (China/India) won't be able to donate, we in the US should donate a little more. Last time, many people here said they donated $20.

I look at this similar to tipping for a good service. It's a way to show that we value their work and their time.

I do not believe Apple regulates the jailbreak community, since the larger part of the iPad2 owners do not care about jailbreaking.
But this is another discussion which is a but off-topic here.

i think there is only like 10 % of people who donate 20$or so

you do the math he had mad 200K

if he start selling jailbreak for 20$ 100% would be 2 000 000 $

what would you take 200 000 or 2 000 000

i know the # arent real but just some # that are easy to work with

guess why all of them join together

Apart from donations they earn money by the Ads on their web sites. The most visited these days is pod2g blog, that have increased ads quantity. From 6 days ago pod2g is doing nothing for JB, the one that works is mainly @pimskeks, what pod2g is doing by posting videos and pictures is to create a torrent of visits into his blog site. His news indicate NOTHING about JB release.
